Powermac Dual
I have a Powermac G5 desktop, will upgrading the RAM help Safari?
Safari runs very fast when it’s the only program open. If I have multiple programs open, Safari slows down horribly. Will upgrading the RAM help me? Also, what’s a good RAM upgrade? I have the dual 1.8 GHz processor and currently have 2.5GB of RAM.
The 1.8Ghz dual is pretty underpowered by current standards, so this my be having some impact. 2.5Gb is an odd amount of RAM to have, I assume you have 1 or 2 1Gb and a 500mb cards in. It is better to have matched pairs, so 2 x 1gb or 3 x1gb, etc. Having said that it si a reasonable amount. I would be tempted to take out the 500mb and see if there is still a slow down or it it runs pretty much the same. If the latter then I would think the CPU is the main issue, and shoving additional RAM in will make very little difference.
