What is the best brand of flat panel TV to buy based on longevity?
I purchased a 42″ Phillips flat panel TV less than a year ago. It has now gone out. I purchased it with a 2-year in-home service contract, which I now find out was only good for a year and no one will come to my home to repair it. Which brand can beat this?
I agree with the Sharp or Pioneer. Sharp has been making real strides in the last couple of years, and is starting to catch up in over-all satisfaction in many rating categories. When you shopping for the T.V you should be shopping the stores willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty in times of need. Unfortunately you may need to call a few friends and relatives to see what they recommend. . You may need to hear a few good testimonials to help you decide the best fit for your needs.
I would also recommend getting a extended service agreement that will pay for PARTS & LABOR and no destination fees, sometimes they will try and sneak that one in on you. When your salesman answers all these questions and tells you what you want to hear, ask to speak to an available Sales Manager. When he gets there, tell him you think the Salesman is doing a fine job, but would like to clarify a few facts. This way everybody is on the same page. If you ever come into the store the people who matter may recognize you and remember you not just some push over schmuck who they can snow job., you have done your homework.
I am not trying to tell you how to be a pain, I am just trying to save you literally thousands of dollars you do not need coming out of your pockets. It just takes a little assertiveness and a smile………..
