Should I get a 64 bit CPU, a dual core, a quad core, or a 64 bit dual core desktop computer?
I do stock trading with proccessing mass amounts of data into my own program which is currently maxing out my CPU. Which CPU would be ideal for my situation?

Did you write this program? Can you modify the program to spin off parts of the work into separate cores?
Just maybe your FSB speed is the bottle neck; where results are waiting to be stored? So you need a system with faster RAM. Hey, maybe you should write a benchmark program and ask to try it on different platforms.
