Avid Workstation

Avid Workstation
Need advice, recommendations for a laptop to be used as a video editing workstation?

I currently am using a Dell XPS 3.6 ghz, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD running a consumer version of Avid called Pinnacle Studio (v10 Plus). Problem is this is my “everything” computer (Internet, MP3s, documents, spreadsheets) so it bogs down when I try to do relatively simple video editing projects. I want a dedicated, reliable, powerful yet somewhat inexpensive system that has a small footprint. Considering a MacBook with Final Cut Pro but that could get a bit pricey.

You may want to re-consider using a laptop for that task. Usually laptops can’t handle huge video/image file editing, you may want to use a desktop. The reason being is that desktops can handle more power. Don’t go with a brand name computer, buy a clone computer that is upgradable. You can select every peripheral at a time, this way you an optimize every component. You do need to go with brand name parts, such as Intel, WesterDigital, ATI and so on. Let me know how it goes. zermenoj@yahoo.com
